Most families gather around to enjoy a delicious plate of Pozole with a little shot of Mezcal or Tequila. At midnight\u00a0 you can hear the cry &#8220;grito&#8221; from every Mexican as it is customary and representative of our Independence. In 1810 when Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, a Catholic priest made the first cry for independence. On September 16th, the celebration continues with authentic mexican food, folkloric dance routines and fireworks.\u00a0All government offices, banks, schools and some business close their doors to commemorate this special day.<\/p>\n<p>This is not to be confused with CINCO DE MAYO, as most foreigners celebrate Cinco de Mayo, in Mexico it is like any other ordinary day.
